Welcome to Ms. Moore's Family and Consumer Sciences blog!

Inspired to help all of my students learn in and outside of class, I created this blog. I will post the recipes we make together, interesting links, and other tid-bits of information that I think you would enjoy reading about.

Free Sewing Patterns Galore!

If you have taken the Apparel Merchandising module, you have already learned how to use a sewing machine and made your reuseable shopping bag.  If you haven't, please take a class in high school such as Fashion Design or Sewing that will teach you this valuable skill.  Here are some free sewing patterns that can help you get started!

If you want to practice sewing at home, here are a few basic items to purchase:

  • Sewing machine w/basic stitches (Can be purchased for under $100, or maybe you have one collecting dust in your attic!)
  • All purpose cotton thread
  • Sharp pair of scissors and shears
  • Seam ripper
  • Sewing chalk/pencil
  • Ballpoint pins

What kinds of sewing projects would you like to learn how to make?  (apron, pajama pants, duffel bag, etc.)
